Summer is well on its way, and it will be here before you know it. As parents, there are many things to consider when the hot temperatures hit our city streets- sunscreen, bugs, dehydration.

But one often overlooked heat-related danger for our toddlers is heatstroke. Read through this article to learn more about the condition and how we can protect our children from developing a heat stroke!

    1. Stay Cool And Hydrated

As the temperature rises, it’s important to be aware of the risks associated with heatstroke. When overheating, children are at a higher risk for heat-related illnesses that could lead to death. As a parent or caregiver, you can do your best to prevent these conditions by keeping your toddler cool and hydrated.

    2. Keep Bedroom Door Closed

You should keep your bedroom door closed and turn on ducted air conditioning Sydney to maintain the cool and comfortable ambiance inside your home.

By keeping your door closed, you can ensure that outdoor hot air will not enter your room and the cool air from your room will not escape. In this way, you can easily maintain a cool and comfortable ambiance inside your home for your toddler during the summer season

    3. Protect Your Kids From Direct Sunlight

Your toddler should stay out of direct sunlight for most of the day. If they must be outside, make sure the sun isn’t hitting them head-on.

They should wear loose clothing and a hat to avoid heat stress. If you feel that your child is getting too hot, remove any tight clothing and make sure they have plenty of fluids to drink.

    4. Wear Light Clothing

When the temperature is high, wash your toddler’s clothes frequently. They’re likely to sweat more when it’s hot out. Wear light clothing, preferably made of natural materials like cotton, during the summer. Make sure your little one always has access to water or juice-you should drink at least 8 glasses every day too!

    5. Drink Plenty Of Water

When outside on a hot day, drink plenty of water. Limit the amount of time spent in direct sunlight and avoid strenuous activity. Keep the home cool by using air conditioning or fans if possible – or get into the shade when out and about.

Wear light-colored clothes and hats that cover the head and neck area, wear sunscreen, use sunblock lotion with an SPF of 15 or higher, limit outdoor activities to morning or evening hours, wear sunglasses along with a brimmed hat or visor.

Drinking plenty of water will also help in removing toxins from your body. You should set the target for the day and drink at least 8 glasses of water.

    6. Offer Smaller Meals

Heatstroke is a very serious health problem. The heat can cause the body temperature to rise to dangerous levels, which in turn affects the body’s ability to regulate its temperature. One of the best ways you can protect your toddler from heatstroke is by offering smaller meals during the summer months.

    7. Install A Dehumidifier

Humidifier installation will help in reducing the humidity level and bring it to the ideal level. High temperature and humidity are a bad mix. It will make your toddler feel extremely uncomfortable inside your home.

Thus, the installation of a humidifier will provide you with huge relief. The new technology air conditioner like air conditioning Sydney is integrated with the dehumidifier.

Thus, the new technology AC not just helps in maintaining the optimum ambiance, but also helps in maintaining the right humidity level inside your home.

    8. Protect From Diarrhea

Diarrhea is quite common during the hot sweltering summer season. You should protect your kid from diarrhea. If you observe any health problem in your kid, then you should not delay and immediately visit the right doctor in your area.

The doctor will diagnose your kid and give the right medicine. If your kid is suffering from diarrhea, then you should give plenty of water to him/her

    9. Take Your Child To Doctor

It’s normal for children to feel warm as they play, but if you suspect your child has a fever it’s important to take them to the doctor.

Parents should also avoid making their children drink water right before they go out in the heat because dehydration can happen very quickly.

Other ways parents can help protect their children from heatstroke include: staying in shaded areas and keeping kids indoors during the hottest hours of the day.

    Final Words

These are some of the ways to take care of your kids during the sweltering summer. Toddlers are not strong enough to bear the extremely hot weather. Therefore, as a parent, it is your responsibility to do the extra care of your kids.
